For years, Dave L Welch loved a life built around responsibility.
Work, Family, Marriage, Faith, Providing, Showing up.
Like a lot of men, he believed endurance mattered. If something was broken, you fixed it. If somebody needed help, you helped. If life became difficult, you carried more weight and kept moving.
Then the structure holding that life together began to fail.
His father died.
His marriage entered a crisis he could not repair by effort alone.
Faith remained, but easy answers did not.
And eventually Dave was forced to confront a truth he had spent much of his life avoiding.
Sometimes faithfulness does not mean saving what is falling apart.
Sometimes it means telling the truth about it.
A Walk Through Fire follows that journey through grief, marriage crisis, responsibility, helplessness, prayer, surrender, divorce, and the quieter life that came afterward.
It is not written from the other side pretending the fire made everything better.
It is written from the place where a man realizes that survival was only the beginning.
The harder question was learning how to live again.
